Company Description: 5E Boron Americas, LLC (5E BA), formerly known as Fort Cady (California) Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of 5E Advanced Materials, Inc. (5E). 5E BA’s corporate office and team is located in Hesperia, CA and the project site is located in Newberry Springs, CA. 5E BA’s Borate Mine hosts a multi-generational Borate resource where boric acid will be produced for the large North American specialty chemicals market including high-end technologies such as electric vehicles, defense, and magnets. The Fort Cady project site is an exceptionally rare and large colemanite deposit.

Purpose: The Production Supervisor will be responsible to oversee, coordinate and provide direct leadership and supervision for operations involved in the production process. The Production Supervisor will lead and oversee all daily production of our chemical manufacturing facility. We are seeking individuals with strong leadership to ensure the quality of our products, safety of the facility and coordination of all plant production in order to reach the best possible performance targets. This individual will be responsible for manufacturing at acceptable efficient levels, meeting production schedules, maintaining a clean and safe work environment while maintaining employee morale and discipline.

Position Summary: The Production Supervisor is an active participant of the 5E Boron Americas, LLC boron project which is a world first developmental project. The Production Supervisor will initially assist Operations in executing a proactive and effective training program that develops new manufacturing technicians to safely meet the goals of the plant while growing and maintaining a reliable workforce. As the production units come online, the Production Supervisor will transition from training focused responsibilities to a leadership role within the operational structure. In this leadership role, the Production Supervisor will guide a team of manufacturing technicians in the continuous effort to produce in-spec product, safely and efficiently. The Production Supervisor will demonstrate consistent and best work practices to set the foundation for how chemical processing, safe work, and basic functional skills should be practiced throughout the facility. The Production Supervisor will lead and oversee all daily production of our chemical manufacturing facility.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Position:  

  • Responsible for understanding all aspects of production schedule and coordinating manufacturing requirements with schedulers and attend daily production meetings.
  • Oversees daily activities of operations to maximize scheduling and real-time utilization of resources.
  • Allocates resources in a responsible manner, directing and controlling shifts, hours, overtime, and temporary labor.
  • Responsible for maintaining manufacturing compliance with safety and regulatory requirements as directed by the Environmental, Health & Safety Manager.
  • Responsible for directing the layout of equipment, workflow, process methods and work force utilization.
  • Identify and implementing process improvements.
  • Monitor and analyze sample data to make process variable adjustments accordingly to maintain quality product.
  • Oversee all equipment operation including but not limited to proper line ups, monitor process variables, prepare equipment for proper Lockout Tagout isolation before permitting work to maintenance, etc.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the training program to ensure compliance is achieved for all training policies and requirements.
  • Build effective relationships with employees that will improve the likeliness to be successful; accomplished through strong manufacturing floor presence and ongoing engagement with front line supervisors and coordinators
  • Provide training and mentoring to new hires in safety, company policy, procedures, work instructions, along with manufacturing topics through hands-on and classroom-based learning
  • Development of individualized training plans to address deficiencies, resourcing, and optimization of overall staffing levels
  • Identify potential risks to performance. Lead your team in resolving those issues where possible. Escalate to the relevant stakeholders to minimize impact when necessary.

  • Ability to build positive cross-functional and intra plant relationships with both internal and external peers and stakeholders.
  • Proficient hazard recognition skills and ability to teach and direct reports on hazard recognition abilities
  • Proficient understanding of life critical procedures such as Safe Work Permitting, Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, Line Breaks/Openings, and Working from Heights
  • Must be willing/able to work in a chemical manufacturing environment. Must be able to climb stairs, perform physical lifts up to 50 pounds and wear site standard PPE


  • Technical or Associate Degree or a minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Chemical manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Production planning and scheduling experience.
  • Continuous improvement and process improvement experience
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and time management.
