Company Description: 5E Boron Americas, LLC (5E BA), formerly known as Fort Cady (California) Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of 5E Advanced Materials, Inc. (5E). 5E BA’s corporate office and team is located in Hesperia, CA and the project site is located in Newberry Springs, CA. 5E BA’s Borate Mine hosts a multi-generational Borate resource where boric acid will be produced for the large North American specialty chemicals market including high-end technologies such as electric vehicles, defense, and magnets. The Fort Cady project site is an exceptionally rare and large colemanite deposit.

Purpose: The Maintenance Manager is an active participant of the 5E Boron Americas, LLC boron project which is a world first developmental project. The Maintenance Manager’s role will involve team development and management, PM implementation and sustainment, maintenance KPIs implementation and continuous improvement, evaluating processes and chemical manufacturing/processing systems, and suggesting and implementing improvement projects.

Position Summary: The Maintenance Manager is responsible for all maintenance of process equipment – tanks, reactors, pumps, dryers, filtration equipment, environmental monitoring/control, boilers, air compressors, cooling towers, and other utility equipment; equipment/assets associated with in-situ mining; instrumentation; and automation/controls.  Maintenance related activities include but are not limited to training of mechanical and electrical personnel, building preventive and predictive maintenance programs, analyzing downtime, optimizing spend/plant performance.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Position:  

  • Development of Standard Maintenance Procedures, checklists, and formats in accordance with the OEM recommendation for better maintenance
  • Conduct critical work permits regularly for maintenance activities. Oversee maintenance work request
  • Manage all maintenance personnel and processes involved with maintenance processes.
  • Interact with outside contractors on as needed basis
  • Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of weekly scheduled outages and turnarounds, regulatory testing, pressure vessel testing, and risk management activities
  • Recommend and implement improvements in facilities, equipment, and resources utilization.
  • Develop, implement, and own site Preventative and Predictive Maintenance programs.
  • Lead capital projects with both internal and external resources ensuring all proper permits are obtained and safety processes are followed.
  • Achieve capital budgets.
  • Manage all equipment, maintenance materials, tool, contractor selection, and procurement related to storeroom parts and maintenance activities.
  • Responsible for maintenance discussions during internal and external audits, regulatory agency visits, etc.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve both safety and operational disruptions to ensure a safe and efficient operation.
  • Ensure that proper records of maintenance logs (Work Orders, PM plan) are maintained.
  • Develop and improve the Maintenance Management System (Visual Instruction, Policies, check lists).
  • Manage employees through motivation, assessment, and training
  • Work with the Plant Manager to prepare the annual budget and monthly forecast, follow and explain variations budget vs. actual.
  • Assure spare parts inventory is effectively managed (lead time, critical parts list, downtime frequency) to reduce the maintenance expenses and reduce the risk of any downtime due to a lack of parts availability.

  • Bachelor’s degree or 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Technically skilled, equipment knowledge and experience with ERP system required.
  • Ability to analyse data and situations, draw conclusions and make meaningful decisions.
  • Strong ability to make decisions and continuous improvements
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing preferred
